IT Ministry Launches Easy Installment Scheme to Buy Mobile on Installment

Recently, the mobile phone prices in Pakistan have seen a massive increase. Due to the increased mobile prices in Pakistan, people cannot buy mobile phones. The government has faced a heavy backlash in response.

There was a dire need to address this issue, and that’s what the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication is set to do. By partnering with telecom service providers, they will launch the Easy Installment Scheme on January 12, 2024, allowing people to buy mobile phones on easy installments.

Dr. Umar Saif, the caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, said that the “Easy Installment Plan” aims to give relief and make mobile phones accessible to everyone in Pakistan.

He explained that with this “Buy Mobile on Installment Plan,” telecommunication companies can sell smartphones to customers in smaller payments through easy installments on mobile phones. It will be beneficial, especially for those with lower incomes in Pakistan, to enjoy the advantages of mobile internet.

Dr. Umar Saif also said that if someone isn’t able to pay the mobile installments, their mobile phone will be blocked by the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS). He added that a telecom service provider even agrees to provide iPhones on installment.

In his interview with the journalists, he also shared some exciting news about the super-fast 5G internet in Pakistan. He said the 5G internet will be launched next year in July. It shows that the government is passionate and committed to advancing the country’s technological infrastructure.

He added that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has been working to implement it. They are taking necessary steps, including laying down a network of optical fiber cables nationwide. This initiative will expand the network of optical fiber cables in Pakistan and will help get faster internet.

Moreover, he added that for the startups and freelancers, the government will start a project on January 11, 2024, to build 10,000 e-Rozgar Centers with the latest facilities nationwide.
